Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips believes his old club is just a couple of tweaks away from winning the Premier League title.
Wright-Phillips, who spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge, has been impressed with the Blues’ impressive start to the campaign under manager Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea currently sit second behind leaders Liverpool, and Wright-Phillips thinks that with a few key additions, the Blues could be unstoppable.
“If a prime Thiago Silva was still there, if [Thibaut] Courtois was still there, then you’re thinking, Chelsea could probably go on and win the Premier League,” he said.
Wright-Phillips also praised Maresca’s approach to the title talk, saying that the team has handled the pressure well by focusing on their games rather than getting caught up in the hype.
With Chelsea flying under the radar, Wright-Phillips is eager to see how they respond to the increasing attention. “Now, everybody thinks Chelsea have an outside chance, so I want to see how they deal with that,” he said.
