Chris Rembert makes it back-to-back SEC Freshman of the Week honors for Auburn

After playing a pivotal role in Auburn’s four wins last week, including its sweep of the field in Arlington, Texas, Chris Rembert has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

It marks the second straight week an Auburn freshman has taken home the award after Bub Terrell also earned the recognition last week.

The Pensacola, Florida, native hit .385 (5-for-13) and reached base at a .529 clip with a slugging percentage of 1.000 for the week. Four of his five hits were for extra bases, including two doubles and two home runs, and he ranked tied for second in the league with 10 RBI.

Rembert started the week with a double, homer and season-high four RBIs in the midweek win vs. Samford before replicating the performance two games later in the team’s win against No. 8 Oregon State. The freshman second baseman hit a two-run, ground-rule double to tie the game against the Beavers in the second inning and two-run home run to extend Auburn’s lead in the fifth inning. The home runs was Rembert’s third of the season, tying him with Terrell for the team lead.

Through 10 games and nine starts in an Auburn uniform, Rembert is hitting .300 (9-for-30) and ranks second on the team with a .700 slugging percentage as six of his nine hits have gone for extra bases. He has reached base in nine straight games, including multiple times in four straight.

Riding a 10-game winning streak, Rembert and the No. 20 Tigers (11-1) wrap up a four-game road trip at UAB (9-2) at Regions Field this week before returning home to host Old Dominion (3-7) this weekend.
