Jay Bilas Names NCAA Tournament Team That’s ‘Very, Very Capable’ – But There’s A Catch

The first round of 64 games is complete, and three double-digit seeds have advanced to the round of 32. These include the No. 12 seed McNeese Cowboys, the No. 11 seed Drake Bulldogs and the No. 10 seed Arkansas Razorbacks.

Now, teams are gearing up for the final set of round of 64 games, which will take place on Friday. One of those teams is the No. 2 seed Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama had an impressive season, finishing with a record of 25-8 and going 13-5 in SEC play. The team is coached by Nate Oats and features guard Mark Sears, who averages 18.7 points and 4.9 assists per game.

However, injuries have plagued the Crimson Tide this season. Jay Bilas appeared on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” expressing concern that these injuries could hinder a long tournament run.

“I think Alabama is very, very capable, (when) healthy,” Bilas said. “One of the problems is, and it’s been a long-term deal with them; they lost Latrell Wrightsell early in the season to an injury, and he’s out for the year. He was their best shooter. Houston Mallette, who transferred in from Pepperdine, and coaches, who, every time I go to practice, say, ‘He’s our best player in practice.’ He’s not going to play the rest of the year.”
