Manchester United supporters have shared differing views about the rumored transfer fee for Marcus Rashford, creating a divide within the fanbase.
Rashford, 27, has recently lost favor with manager Ruben Amorim and was left out of Manchester United’s matchday squads for four consecutive games against Manchester City, Tottenham, Bournemouth, and Wolves, before being named as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday. In a December 17 interview with journalist Henry Winter, Rashford stated he was “ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”
Since then, multiple clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Al-Ittihad, and Arsenal, have shown interest in the forward. While Arsenal’s interest is described as “tentative,” a transfer could go ahead if certain “conditions” are fulfilled, according to Football Transfers. One such condition is that Raheem Sterling, currently on loan at Chelsea, would need to return to his parent club, thus creating room in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Nevertheless, it’s suggested that even if Arsenal were to acquire Rashford, it would not affect their pursuit of Nico Williams or Rafael Leao.
Rashford is under contract with Manchester United until June 2028 and reportedly earns a hefty £375,000 per week, according to Capology. In contrast, Kai Havertz is the highest-paid player at Arsenal, earning £280,000 per week, meaning Rashford would likely have to accept a pay reduction for a move.
However, Football Transfers also mentions that Arsenal is “not willing” to pay £25m for Rashford, viewing him as “nothing more than a squad player” in Arteta’s system.
The potential transfer has sparked a range of reactions among Manchester United fans. One fan remarked, “So they haven’t considered it then, have they? Because they’re never going to sell for that.” Another user commented, “£40-50m is good enough.”
