New mock draft has Cardinals taking huge D-lineman

New mock draft has Cardinals taking huge D-lineman

With the NFL combine in the rear-view mirror, we have new information about this year’s NFL draft prospects, and that will impact how projections for the first round will go. With new information in hand, Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy gives us a new first-round mock draft.

The Tennessee Titans go with Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick, while Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is not even selected in the first round, an interesting projection.

But what about the Arizona Cardinals and the 16th overall pick?

They go with a defensive lineman for the second straight year, selecting giant Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant.

At minimum, Grant should be an immediate impact player in the run game, something the Cardinals must defend better. But many believe he has a big upside with his pass-rushing abilities. Arizona would hope that he can become someone like two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Vita Vea, who has had three consecutive seasons with at least five sacks playing nose tackle.
