Ohio State’s Cotie McMahon’s status for Big Ten Tournament confirmed following incident in Maryland

Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff confirmed that leading scorer Cotie McMahon will not miss any games for the postseason following a controversial incident in Maryland.

After McMahon went to the bench for fouling out of the Buckeyes’ 93-90 overtime loss to Maryland, McMahon was seen giving double-middle fingers to the crowd.

McGuff stated that there will be no punishment from Ohio State or the NCAA for the incident.

“We took a tough loss against Maryland on Sunday and we had an unfortunate incident with Cotie where she kind of lost control of her emotions there for a moment,” McGuff said. “We are addressing that internally with her.”

McMahon led the Buckeyes with 16.9 points per game in the regular season and started all but the four games she missed due to a leg injury in November.

Ohio State received a double-bye into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will face the winner of Thursday’s Iowa-Michigan State matchup on Friday night. The game will tipoff 25 minutes after the 6:30 p.m. game at the tournament ends.
