Recapping Florida basketball’s epic road win at Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday night

The Gators came, saw, and conquered on Tuesday night in Tuscaloosa coming away with a 99-94 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide. It was a tightly contested battle between two heated Southeastern Conference rivals that turned out to be a shootout — one of those games that makes college basketball the perfect sport to watch.

Both teams had stretches where it looked like they were a big play or three away from blowing things open, but each had an answer to the other’s punches. Florida pulled out to a double-digit lead in the second half that it held onto until the waning minutes, when ‘Bama surged in a last-ditch attempt to overcome their opponent but the Orange and Blue managed to prevail.

With NCAA Tournament seedings on the line, Todd Golden’s gang made a strong argument for a top seed along with the Auburn Tigers — who already clinched their top ticket — giving the Southeastern Confernece at least half of the four top seeds available. Of course, there are still conference tournaments to be played before Selection Sunday arrives.

What matters to the Gator Nation is that the men’s basketball team is in prime position heading into the postseason. At 26-4 and having survived the SEC gauntlet, it is hard to argue against this team’s bid for a top seed.
