In December 2024, the Schuylerville High School Football Team achieved a historic milestone by securing their first-ever New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class C Football Championship. This remarkable accomplishment not only brought pride to the Schuylerville community but also garnered recognition from the New York State Senate and Assembly.
Historic Victory in the NYSPHSAA Class C Championship
On December 7, 2024, at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, the Schuylerville Black Horses faced the top-ranked Salamanca Warriors in the NYSPHSAA Class C Football Championship. Displaying exceptional skill and determination, the Black Horses secured a 26-20 victory, overcoming a 20-7 deficit in the third quarter and the loss of their kicker due to injury. This win marked the first state football championship in Schuylerville’s program history, following previous finals appearances in 2015, 2019, and 2021
Recognition by the New York State Senate
In acknowledgment of this historic achievement, Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Ballston Lake) attended the Schuylerville School District Board of Education meeting on December 17, 2024, to honor the team. Team Achievements and Individual Honors
The Black Horses’ victory was a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season. Eight members of the team were selected to the 2024 Class C All-State team by the New York Sports Writers Association. Quarterback Ollie Bolduc and running back Landen Cumm, both seniors, were named co-players of the year. Offensive lineman Josh Bowen was named to the first team, while defensive lineman Jameson Brownell, linebacker Levi Michaud, defensive back Jaiden LaMere, and kicker Silas Schulte-Lindhorst received second-team honors. Running back Ethan Warner and linebacker Max Montgomery were named to the third team.
