The transfer portal is wide open and Alabama basketball has wasted no time keying in on potential new additions to the Crimson Tide’s roster.

A week after the portal opened last Monday, freshman Naas Cunningham was the first player from the 28-9 run to the Elite Eight to go portaling. However, Nate Oats’ staff was hosting prospects as soon as the team landed at Tuscaloosa Regional Airport on Sunday.

Crimson Tide lands first transfer portal commitment for 2025-26 roster

Alabama has its first commitment from the transfer portal according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Bucknell 7-footer Noah Williamson will reportedly be joining the Crimson Tide after taking Patriot League Player of the Year for his efforts with the Bison. The college junior attended St. Thomas More (Conn.) during high school, which is the home of Alabama 2025 commit London Jemison.

Alabama transfer target Adrian Wooley commits to Louisville

On Monday afternoon, the 6-foot-5, 180 pound guard announced he will be taking his talents to Louisville. As KSU went 19-14, Wooley averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

UAB transfer has reportedly heard from Crimson Tide

Among Arkansas, Kentucky, BYU, Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Georgetown and Memphis, senior Yaxel Lendeborg has also heard from Alabama basketball, per On3’s Joe Tipton. The 6-foot-9, 230 pound forward averaged 17.7 points and 11.4 boards per contest − which rank third in Division I − for the Blazers while registering over four assists in 37 games.

Lendeborg is also declaring for the NBA Draft.

What’s the latest on Alabama basketball former Rylan Griffen?

After one season at Kansas, it was announced by multiple sources on Monday morning that Griffen hit the portal. The player from Alabama’s Final Four run hasn’t been confirmed to have continued interest from the Crimson Tide. Yet, now-Arkansas State coach Ryan Pannone said in front of sources for the Tuscaloosa News that he would love to have the Jayhawks guard back at Alabama. However, the source said that Pannone mentioned “someone would need to convince his boss.”

One of the most productive players in Division II, Steen averaged 18.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.6 blocks per game at Florida Southern. The two-time Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year has one more year of eligibility, and per PDT Scouting’s Arman Jovic, Steen says he’s heard from the Crimson Tide as of Monday.

The 6-foot-9, 225 pound big man would answer Alabama’s needs in the No. 4 and No. 5 spot with the looming exits of Grant Nelson and Clifford Omoruyi.

First Alabama basketball player from Elite Eight run hits transfer portal

On Monday afternoon, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported that Cunningham hit the portal. The 6-foot-7 wing was an ESPN Top 100 recruit coming out of high school, but redshirted his freshman season with the Crimson Tide.

Crimson Tide calling for twin brother of Auburn basketball commit

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, the Crimson Tide is expecting a Zoom call from Monmouth transfer guard Abdi Bashir Jr., who is the brother of Auburn commit Abdul, on Tuesday. The 6-foot-7 sophomore led the nation in three-point makes with 127 and is a sharp shooter at the foul line.

Miami guard Jalil Bethea to visit Alabama basketball some time this week

Last Wednesday, insider Adam Zagoria reported that Bethea will be taking a visit to Alabama “at some point.” The freshman is said to be down to four programs, including NC State, Kansas State and the Crimson Tide with the possibility of returning to Miami.

In 2023, as a consensus 5-Star prospect out of Archbishop Wood in Pennsylvania, Bethea was scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa, but cancelled within two weeks of committing to the Hurricanes that September.

Days after visiting Texas A&M, the 6-foot-8 freshman and four-star prospect is making way for Tuscaloosa on Monday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. He averaged 6.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season for the Tigers and had a career double-double against Alabama on Jan. 25.

Alabama one of top four schools for KSU transfer target Adrian Wooley

On Saturday, Joe Tipton of On3 reported that Wooley was down to four schools. One of them was Alabama, although the Crimson Tide didn’t offer the Tuscaloosa native coming out of high school at Paul W. Bryant.

Auburn, Louisville and Kansas are also in the mix for Wooley, who spent his freshman season playing for Alabama basketball alum-turned-Kennesaw State head coach Antoine Pettway.

Per Tide 100.9, the 7-foot, 250-pounder was waiting for Oats and recruiting mastermind Preston Murphy at the airport when the team got back from Newark. Shooting 53.8% from the floor and 31.8% from deep, he averaged 17.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game for Bucknell.

Davin Cosby Jr. was the first player from Alabama basketball’s 2024 Final Four run to announce that he was hitting the portal.

After parting ways with the Demon Deacons, the 6-foot-5 guard was joined in the portal later on last Monday by ex-Crimson Tide teammate Nick Pringle, who left Alabama to play for South Carolina. Neither have been confirmed to have interest from Alabama at this time.
