JJ Redick’s Luka Doncic Message After Lakers’ 7th Straight Win

The Los Angeles Lakers continued their impressive form on Tuesday night with a commanding 136-115 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at Crypto.com Arena. Both teams entered the matchup coming off wins on Sunday, with the Lakers defeating the Clippers 108-102 and the Pelicans taking down the Utah Jazz 128-121.

The Lakers wasted no time asserting their dominance, controlling the game from start to finish and securing their 17th win in their last 20 outings. Luka Doncic was once again at the heart of the Lakers’ success, delivering 30 points, 15 assists, and eight rebounds while knocking down six three-pointers.

With his latest stat line, Doncic joined franchise legends Magic Johnson, Jerry West, and LeBron James as just the third player in Lakers history to record at least 30 points and 15 assists in a game.

He also became the first to achieve this feat with five or more three-pointers, per the NBA.

Following the victory, Lakers head coach JJ Redick had nothing but praise for Doncic’s ability to dismantle opposing defenses.

“They tried a bunch of different coverages on him—blitz, drop. He solved every riddle,” Redick told reporters. “We’re excited about the process when we get good shots, and we were able to generate a lot of good shots tonight, and he was at the forefront of that.”

Doncic, who experienced a brief adjustment period after his blockbuster trade from the Dallas Mavericks, seems to be settling into his role alongside LeBron James. Through nine games with the Lakers, he is averaging 22.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.7 assists, including a team-high 32 points in the win over the Denver Nuggets on Feb. 22.

Fresh off winning the NBA scoring title and leading the Mavericks to the Finals last season, Doncic is proving to be the offensive engine the Lakers need as they push for their 18th championship.
