Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Brighton star Joao Pedro and have been keeping tabs on his progress, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 23-year-old would be interested in a move away from Brighton to join one of the top Premier League sides.
However, Brighton are expected to demand at least double the £30million fee they paid Watford in 2023 if they are to let him leave in the near future.
Any move for his signature is instead expected to happen in the summer given Brighton’s tough negotiations in the transfer market.
Liverpool’s interest comes as they are keen to strengthen their attacking options, and Pedro’s ability to play across the front fee has placed him firmly on their radar.
Meanwhile, Diogo Jota’s frequent injury issues have forced the club to consider their options to lead the line as the Portugal forward would normally be their first choice.

Pedro has attracted attention from multiple top clubs thanks to his performances for the Seagulls, where he has established himself as a key player.
So far this season, he has scored four goals and picked up three assists in 11 Premier League appearances and has proven he can play as a striker, winger or number ten.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are planning to strengthen Arne Slot’s squad to provide an added boost to their title challenge ahead of the second half of the season.
The recruitment team have already begun assessing potential targets, with Pedro’s name having been brought up in a number of conversations.
Liverpool are also expected to weigh up moves for a new full-back and a central midfielder after identifying them as potentially weaker positions.
