Cole Palmer had a tough day at Goodison Park during Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Everton.
The Blues’ main star was effectively nullified by the opposing team, and Chelsea could not find a breakthrough without Palmer at his best.
Despite that, Palmer spent the whole game on the pitch, even though Enzo Maresca had players like Joao Felix on the bench.
After the game, plenty of Chelsea fans argued that Maresca should stop treating Palmer as an exception to the rule and get him off the pitch if he performs poorly.
Maxwell: “Enzo Maresca needs to learn to substitute Cole Palmer when he is not playing well.”
pd8bq: “Palmer shouldn’t be immune to getting subbed off.”
uzorma: “Maresca, it’s okay to remove Palmer if he’s playing rubbish.”
TheRedPillMonk: “As much as I hate to say it, Maresca needs to know when to replace Palmer. Today he was ineffective.”
Rchiagems: “Palmer is our star and everything but it was painful watching this dude finishing the game while we have Felix on the bench
elsdawg: “Like it or not, Felix deserves to start some PL games over Palmer”
BlueCoProject: “Next game, I want to see Joao Felix start over Cole Palmer. I am tired of Maresca being terrified of subbing Palmer. Amazing player, but when he is not on it, you HAVE TO SUB JOAO IN.”
