Arsenal have been offered the opportunity to sign PSG’s star on loan to provide cover for the injured Bukayo Saka
Arsenal could explore the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani in January, as injuries to key players force the club to reconsider their transfer strategy. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed on Monday that Bukayo Saka faces an extended period on the sidelines after tearing his hamstring during Arsenal’s emphatic 5-1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace.
Adding to the Gunners’ woes, Raheem Sterling, who joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer to provide cover for Saka, is also unavailable due to a knee injury. These setbacks have left Arsenal grappling with a winger shortage ahead of the transfer window.
Arteta acknowledged that the club might need to adapt their plans, stating, “The preparation is done, and we are ready if something happens. Obviously, we didn’t predict a situation where Bukayo and Raheem would both be unavailable at the same time.”
He continued: “We anticipated other scenarios, such as issues in the defensive line, but the groundwork is done. If something has to happen, we’ll be open to it. For now, the focus is on maximizing the potential within the squad.”
Kolo Muani, who joined PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023, was expected to take on a more prominent role following Kylian Mbappé’s anticipated move to Real Madrid. However, the 26-year-old has struggled for game time, making just two starts across Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Reports suggest PSG could offer him on loan in January, with Arsenal among several clubs in contention.
Despite the potential availability of Kolo Muani, Arteta hinted at relying on internal options to address the crisis. The manager named Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, and academy talent Ethan Nwaneri as players capable of stepping up in Saka’s absence.
“My focus is on the resources we already have in the squad to remain as competitive as possible,” Arteta said. “We have many options to work with. If something extraordinary comes up and the club is ready to act, we’ll consider it.”
